Un misionero casado? 🀨

Day: a wet one (sad cause we were going to golf ☹️)

Pushup Count: 187

Buenos dΓas a todos! How're y'all doing? We had a good week over here in Bakes... A little cold, but I'm not allowed to complain. Highlights from this week:

- We went to Shafter! But we didn't realize that the activity had been cancelled until we got there... πŸ˜•
- Rigel knit us ties πŸ˜
- On Tuesday we went down to Santa Clarita for a district council and then started exchanges over Yums πŸ˜‹
- Elder Daniel and I went to campus for the first time in forever. It was so nice to see it open again and be able to talk to so many YSAs
- We made super mexican tostadas with lots of tapatΓo
- We had a pass off lesson and met our new friend Francisco
- We had Waffle Wednesday at the institute building and gave out free waffles for a couple of hours πŸ§‡
- A fire closed the road through the canyon, so Elder Daniel and Elder Lopez weren't able to get home, so they stayed the night while I went up to Wasco on exchanges.
- I got to go a Wasco ward coordination meeting with Obispo Orozco and see all of my favorite members from last summer. Hermano Martinez kept making jokes about hopping the border and then when I told him how much time I had left in the mission he told me I have a year before I'm married πŸ˜³
- Elder Randall and I taught some awesome lessons and then I accidentally made him aware that a certain someone from his high school got engaged πŸ˜¬
- We had interviews with President πŸ˜ It was really good. We talked about the temple, continuing revelation, and logistics for when he goes home
- Sister Higgs tried to set me up with her granddaughter... πŸ€¦πŸ½‍♂️
- Our schedule got messed up because of a fire in Castaic (everyone is totally fine, no se preocupen) sooo we went on exchanges with Elder Peterson and Elder Callaway. Elder Peterson and I ran into a cool dude named Navan who's looking to convert to Christianity. It was a nice little miracle meeting him
- We had dinner with Andrew! He's the best πŸ¦πŸ‡²πŸ‡½
- We tried to catch a CSUB basketball game ending to talk to people but it ended up lasting way longer than we thought and not being the most effective thing πŸ˜‚
- We ate with the Urmstons last night and then talked about the restoration

Just another average week here. Some missionaries in the south of our mission did get evacuated for a day due to a fire, but they're all good now and it didn't really affect me. I'm just chillin :)

Spiritual Thought
Take a sec to make a list of all the things you wouldn't have and/or things you're grateful to know thanks to the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One thing for me is the Book of Mormon. It's a pretty cool book. Super true. Super the word of God. If you haven't read it, do it.

Day: the 20th...

Pushup Count: 193

Buenos dias a todos! Digo buenos dias con la esperanza de que termine con este correo antes de las 12 pero vamos a ver como queda πŸ˜‚. This week I set a goal to journal every day and I was successful until Wednesday... So yeah we'll see what I can remember. Highlights:

- Last pday we played gagaball, which is a super weird concept but actually really fun with a lot of people
- I cut Elder Montes' hair... Hopefully he doesn't hate me πŸ˜¬✂️
- We went to a district council in east Bakersfield and then I started exchanges with Elder Pugmire. We had a really good time despite an interesting experience with a dude who told us some freaky stuff
- We made chicken tostadas that were super good πŸ˜‹
- We taught a YSA named Zach and he brought his wife πŸ‘€ to the lesson... Kind of a curveball πŸ˜‚
- We stopped by this lady that I had shared a couple of scriptures with in the past and she kinda forced her husband to listen to us. But it turns out that he's soooper prepared and accepted a Book of Mormon very graciously
- I got kicked out of my first parking lot πŸ˜‚ It's a miracle that I've been in this area so long without getting asked to leave somewhere
- We knocked a complex, first door said he didn't know anyone who would be interested because all his neighbors were Sikh. We should've taken him seriously because the next half hour was nothing but uninterested Indians πŸ˜‚
- I went to La Cresta with Elder Cary on exchanges. One of their recent converts told me I speak almost perfect spanish so that was a nice confidence boost πŸ˜Š I also got screamed at by an old latina lady on a doorstep. I was trying so hard to not laught as she was just shouting nonsense and making crazy gestures πŸ˜‚
- I went to Ridgecrest again, this time with Elder Sjoblom. We got bashed but we taught a super good lesson in the church building πŸ’ͺ🏼
- Saturday was Luis' baptism! πŸ₯³ We taught him the first lesson before passing him off to Hermanas so we got to go watch it. The best part was that our friend Ryan came, and even though he doesn't speak Spanish he said he felt the spirit really strongly and it washed away all his worries and anxieties about being baptized πŸ˜

Solid week. Not much else to say. Love you all, let me know how you're doing!

Spiritual Thought:
"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me... When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" — Joseph Smith Jr.

Day: a fresh spring afternoon

Hola a todos, comos lesaido? This was a very busy week in Bakersfield (and all surrounding areas) so we'll see if anything interesting happened. The highlights:

- Last pday we played vΓ³leibol and ultimate football. It felt so good to run πŸ˜
- I got asked to accompany some sisters at zone conference so i did a lot of practicing the piano
- We got bashed twice in one evening and they just wasted soo much of our time πŸ™„
- We had zone conference #1 in Santa Clarita. Our training went well and I ate way too many cream puffs with Elder Hanson
- Zone conference #2 in Bakersfield. Our boy Danny Medina brought his taco truck and gave us all tacos, and I only messed up at the most important part of the song I was accompanying πŸ€¦πŸ½‍♂️
- We taught our recent convert's brother who eventually told us that he and his mom are members. I was so excited the whole time just to find out that my comp already knew πŸ˜‚
- Zone conference #3 in Lancaster. The lunch was costco pizza soooo yeah. Good meeting.
- After zone conferences, I started an exchange with Elder Durkin. We had a good time in Lancaster and he gave me a bunch of snacks to take home
- We had comp study at my favorite park in Bakersfield that I hadn't been to in a long while
- We taught Nacho again and left him with a Libro de MormΓ³n. Super fun to practice Spanish with him
- We put our friend Ryan on baptsimal date! Please pray that everything goes well for him.
- Last night we took a little pitstop to use the baΓ±o and as we were leaving we ran into Rosa, the woman that I confirmed a member of the church a year ago. She said she's still going to church and doing good πŸ˜ It was a nice little miracle to run into her

I'm glad to have zone conferences out of the way, now we're entering exchange season. Hopefully I get to go to some Spanish areas πŸ˜

Spiritual Thought
I watched the Enos Book of Mormon video last night while I did the dishes, so I invite you all to go watch it. It's one of my favorites and there's a lot to learn there.

Day: mas o menos 18 meses

Pushup Count: 205

Hey y'all how's it going? This week has been crazy and I forgot to journal during most of it, but we'll see what I remember. Highlights:

- Went to Cracker Barrel for the first time. Super mid.
- We went mini golfing πŸ₯³ Unfortunately I had an off day and did not play well but it was fun anyways
- We taught a great lesson to Ryan, and then Tone and I lifted a giant dresser all the way through his house to his room and it was really heavy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜³
- Lunch at Cafe Rio with the SA elders and President and Sister Burton was awesome as always. President got talking about oyster sauce and who knows what else and we were all super confused πŸ§
- I made tamales on New Years while a couple elders stayed the night at our house. They did turn out as good as Christmas but now I know that butter is not a great shortening substitute in masa jaja
- We went to the baptism of the sisters' friend who is currently attending the Buena Vista ward... Which means I got to see a bunch of my favorite members πŸ˜
- Also, I got stuck playing the piano at the baptism, as usual πŸ˜‚
- We filled the supply orders for the whole mission... Yay
- We picked up the greenies and took them out for their first night. Elder Paxman's group got bashed right out the gate and they loved it πŸ˜‚
- We let one of the greenies submit the transfer board (el Elder Campbell estΓ‘ poder πŸ˜‚
- Transfer day went smooth and it was great to see all the other awesome missionaries in this mission
- My trainer Elder Vasquez and one other missionary stayed the night with us and then we took them to the airport the next morning ☹️
- The hermanas I came out with went home πŸ˜±πŸ€¦πŸ½‍♂️
- We were super happy to set up a lesson with a Salvadorean woman just to show up the next day and find out that she's already a member πŸ˜‚ She told us that we had the best Spanish of any missionaries she's ever talked to. Definitely not true, but it made us feel good πŸ˜
- Met this dude named Nacho who let us in when I really needed to use the bathroom... Miraclessss
- We had an awesome evening devotional last night where we talked about all the people we've baptized and Jesus Christ
- Eggs are super expensive

Well that's it. Let me know if you have any questions. Love youuuu :)
