Un misionero que chocΓ³

Day: another one where it feels like spring already

Pushup Count: 256

Hola mi gente! Just kind of another average, boring week, but I'll try to make it readable.

- Yeah so I totally got too friendly with the other elder's car and gave it a nice long scratch with our car πŸ˜
- Elder Purcell came to my area on exchanges and we had a blast... A random English member in the calle gave us burger King gift cards so we got the little crowns πŸ‘‘πŸ˜Š
- We went to get Elder Dewey covid and flu tested and I ended up sitting in a waiting room alone for over an hour
- Elder Dewey decided to start counting his macros even though he still doesn't know what a macro is...
- I made frijoles colados that were super ricos
- The elders we live with went on exchanges so we partied with Elder Silva
- We bought cards and corn chips and partied... Just kidding we just played hearts for like thirty minutes but that's a party as a missionary πŸ˜‚
- A member bought us Chick-fil-A for lunch on Saturday
- We crashed a baby shower
- I ate the spiciest, most Mexican burger I've had so far
- We had four lessons fall through yesterday, but we had two dinners so it's all good
- I learned a ton of Mexican slang
- Our internet just completely stopped working so we got to just use one phone and navigate without Google maps :)
- We went to a referral's house and met three people who ended up coming to church a few days later, without us really even teaching anything πŸ₯³ (still haven't met the actual referral tho πŸ€”

Yep, boring. Butttt that's okay cause we're doing the Lord's work and we're enjoying it πŸ˜

Spiritual Thought:
"Brothers and sisters, dear friends, let us not wait too long on our road to Damascus. Instead, let us courageously move forward in faith, hope, and charity, and we will be blessed with the light we are all seeking upon the path of true discipleship." - President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

If you haven't heard his talk, "Waiting on the Road to Damascus", go listen to it, cause it's pretty lit πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Les amo tanto,

Day: another rainy one

Buenos dΓas a todos! This wasn't the most interesting week here but I'll try to keep from boring you too much:

- We went to mercado latino for pday activity
- We had tons of cancelled lessons πŸ˜
- We went into a house for a lesson and there was just a giant Greek statue of a dude with no clothes staring at us the whole time
- My comp caught a lizard
- We went to the temple πŸ₯³ it was super cool but after five hours in the car and a couple hour temple session, going out and proselyting was a little tough πŸ˜‚
- Yes, the pushups are starting to take a really long time πŸ˜‚
- We tracked down Hermano PiΓ±a's hot dog cart and got free hot dogs that just immediately destroyed me
- We stole two "new" office chairs from the side of people's houses
- We went to the baptism of one of the Hermanas friends πŸ₯³ guess who played the piano?
- Guess who also played the piano in sacrament meeting? And then was asked to play piano in sacrament meeting for the rest of his time in the ward? But it's kinda lit though cause the stake president told me I could get a key to the building if I wanted to learn the organ... πŸ€·πŸ½‍♂️
- We drove the social media team to stuff a couple times this week and it was kinda weird chaffeuring my last comp around

Yeah so not as crazy as last week, just pretty average work but it's going good :)

Spiritual Thought:
Going to the temple this week kinda reminded me of how much I don't know, but that's okay! Even as a missionary, I have to study constantly to find answers to questions and grow my testimony. Don't worry about knowing everything, remember that a testimony begins with hope that something is true, not a knowledge, just a hope.

"For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little" (2 Nephi 28:30)

Les amo a todos! :)

Un misionero rodeado de locos

Day: pday before the temple :)

Pushup Count: 244

It was a good week, and I remembered to journal! πŸ₯³ Some highlights:

- Last pday Elder Dewey had to get some bloodwork done I got to go to a hospital and sit for an hour (this week won't take as long πŸ˜‚)
- A giant rooster joined us for weekly planning
- I taught Elder Dewey how to play Magic and then beat him twice :/
- We had zone conference and I didn't fall asleep this time! Except in order to do that I had to start drawing every time I started to get tired so I still missed some stuff but idk many it's still better jaja
- We got a referral that lived in a tiny town about twenty minutes south of Bakes, except we didn't have his address, just the town. So naturally, we decided to go down there and knock every door to try and find him. While down there, we got chased by three separate very angry very large dogs and an angry old Latino man with a knife... Oh and we never found the refferal or anyone who knew him. Let's just say we're not going back down there any time soon πŸ˜‚
- Elder Hanson put dishsoap in the dishwasher so we came home to a flooded kitchen floor and lots of bubbles πŸ˜‚
- We rescued my old companion Elder Westerby from a car dealership where they were fixing his car and we went to lunch together
- We had a lesson where we did nothing but answer questions for an hour
- I ate a cold sandwich covered in nacho cheese from a member
- A crazy lady showed up on our porch, and us being missionaries did everything we could to try to help her but we eventually had to shoo her away πŸ˜‚
- We had another lesson in a shed  (btw salvadoreΓ±o accents have been absolutely killing me this week)
- I was prepped to speak Spanish at a door contact but she answered in English so I said "hey, we're looking for the family of Rodriguez" πŸ€¦πŸ½‍♂️
- As we were leaving a friend's house he goes, “not to sound racist or anything, but watch out for them black folks”... Soooo yeah that was awkward πŸ˜‚
- We taught the plan of salvation for an hour and a half because they had so many questions — we ended up using a stuffed duck along with my little Plan de SalvaciΓ³n model to explain it all
- I taught a Peruvian family the word "lit"... It was lit

Anyways yeah, aquΓ andamos en la chamba. Just grinding and loving every minute of it πŸ˜

Spiritual Thought
A cool thought from zone conference: Jesus Christ never stops loving us, even if we sin. But if we're not following him, the bad things in our lives block us from that love. Through repentance and change, we get to feel that love again, which is super cool! So remember that He loves you and that he never stops, sometimes we just need to ask to feel His love again, and that's okay :)

Tengan un buen dΓa,

Un misionero con una leyenda

Day: probably my last first pday in buena vista

Pushup Count: 238

Buenos dΓas mis amigos! This week has been one for the books, so I'm just gonna jump into it.

- Last pday we went bowling again and I did a million times better
- We went to a fancy restaurant in Bakes and I was veryyy grateful they had a lunch special πŸ˜‚
- Tuesday we went to Cafe Rio with President and he told me who my new comp was gonna be
- Our friends gave Elder Ireland and I matching hoodies that are at least three sizes too big :)
- Had to scramble around and let Elder Ireland say goodbye to all the people here
- Thursday morning we had transfers πŸ˜¬ I dropped off Elder Ireland and picked up Elder Dewey, who is an absolute legend. He has over 18 months in the mission and this is his first transfer back after a couple months of surgery recovery. During that time he worked as a service missionary translating all day, so his Spanish is insane. He's super cool and we're gonna do some good work this transfer
- I've had to adjust back to a normal missionary schedule and honestly it's kinda weird πŸ˜…
- I've had time to study Spanish and it's been amazing
- Yesterday we had a lesson with a guy who believes in time travel and that he's basically a prophet πŸ€”
- Also yesterday we had lessons planned from 2-7pm and it was a grind for sure
- The SA Elders showed up at our apartment the other day just to steal our food πŸ˜‚
- We've been doing daily english fasts which has been super tough but also super helpful

Good week, I'm super tired, but once I get into the groove of this transfer we'll be chillin. Love y'all, keep me updated!

Spiritual Thought
We get to go to the temple this transfer πŸ₯³ if you haven't been to the temple lately, do it! And if you don't know what a temple is, let me know. Going to the temple is an amazing opportunity to get closer to Christ and I can't wait :)

Love,
